A Halifax native, Ankur attended the prestigious Halifax Grammar school for 12 years prior to leaving the city to pursue his undergrad degree at Queen’s University. At Queen’s, Ankur transformed the technology community serving on the Advisory board for the on-campus makerspace (Sparq Studios), creating & hosting Queen’s first student-run for students hackathon (QHacks) and sitting on the advisory board for Innovate Queen’s - a community of student creators. The lasting impact from Ankur’s time at Queen’s is easily measured through QHacks which hosted over 600 students and raised 120K in sponsorship in 2019, growing from just 200 students in year 1.
Having developed a keen interest for technology based solutions, Ankur set out to provide Canadians with better options for their personal financial products at LowestRates.ca - a Toronto based FinTech startup. As a Product Manager, Ankur was responsible for acting as a bridge between the business and software development team, creating solutions for over 1M Canadians. In November 2017, Ankur was asked to return to Halifax as an investor and partner in the ownership sale of Scanway Catering. When provided with the opportunity to dive head first into entrepreneurship alongside his family, he jumped at the opportunity to move back home to the city he loved. A year and a half later, Scanway Catering has grown nearly 110% on YoY revenue and has shifted into a B2B business, now holding 10 exclusive contracts with venues across Halifax.
Together, Ankur’s love for Food & Beverage combined with his interest in technology, has lead him to develop a keen sense for developing scalable solutions to complex business problems within traditionally old-economy industries.
